Spears like this, with a barbed blade are common to the Konde and Ngoni people of South East Africa: Tanzania and the neighboring areas. The one for sale here is a classical example. 4 inches blade with a 11 inches barbed tang and socket mounted on a 41 inches narrow wood haft, bound with steel strips on both ends. Total length 56 inches. Very good condition. Age cracks in the wood shaft. An authentic spear, circa 1910 at a very attractive price.
