This Yataghan is most probably from the Balkan areas of the Ottoman Empire and it is dated to the very early 19 C: 1225 in the Islamic calendar which corresponds to 1810 in the Gregorian calendar. The blade is 23 inches long with Inscription in Arabic letters and date inlaid in gold and silver wires (true inlay). The grips are carved from massive, dark and very dense rhino horn, with chased silver grip strap and bolsters. Total lemgth 29 inches. Good condition. Good untouched and shining black age patina on the blade with some losses to the Gold/silver inlay. Partially damaged grip strap and bolsters.
