Up for sale is this very fine, early 19 C. Shamshir sword. The 29 1/2 inches blade is forged from good Indian Wootz steel (Crystalline). The handle is Indian made in the Persian Shamshir style, with finely carved ivory grips and steel cross guard, grip strap and pommel cap. Total length 34 inches. Very good condition. Minor battle scars on the edge and minor ivory chips on the handle. The upward quillons of the cross guard on the left side of the grip is partially broken. Pommel cap restored. No scabbard. A very fine sword.
