This Yataghan sword is of Balkan origin, with style and construction typical to Balkan Yataghans from the second half of the 19 C. The down curving heavy blade is 24 inches long, marked with gold inlay with the royal Tugrha and gold koftgari decoration. Horn grips with big side ears and gilded silver filigree work of the bolster and grip strap. Original scabbard with leather cover stitched in the spiral seam stitching and mounts with silver locket and white metal chape. Total length 31 inches. Very good condition. Minor damages and repairs to the bolsters. Dents on the scabbard mounts.
