Very Fine Turkish Yataghan, Damascus Blade dated 1212 (1797) - 8769

This very fine Yataghan employ a late 17 C. Blade, forged from twisted steel in the pattern known as Turkish Ribbon. The blade is inlaid with silver decoration (true inlay) and dated to 1212 (1797 in the Gregorian Calendar). Some time in the second half of the 19C. The blade was remounted with a silver handle with big chased silver bolsters and leather covered scabbard, both of fine quality. The grip is bound with twisted silver wires. The scabbard is covered with finely tooled leather stitched in the correct spiral manner. Blade length 25 inches. Total length 31 1/2. very good condition. Minor damage to the scabbard stitching and scabbard tip. |
