Rare 17 C. Short Sword from South India. - 8761

This early unusual sword comes from South India. It is believed to be from the late 17 C., employing most probably an imported European blade from a marine cutlass. Blade is 24 inches long. Handle is steel with horn grip, cut and shaped in a classical Indian shape. Total length 28 1/2 inches. Good condition. Very good age patina on the grip and steel parts. Minor pitted spots and forging flaws on the blade. Cross guard and hand guard lightly loose. |
