Small Piha Kahetta Knife with Wood Scabbard - 8722

Up for sale is this small “PIHA KAHETTA”, the traditional knife of the Sinhalese from Sri-Lanka (Ceylon). Like the old classical examples it has a single edged short down curving fullered blade, 8. inches long deeply chiseled and inlaid with brass cover (lightly damaged on o0ne side). The grips are beautifully carved from black horn with good age patina, set with chiseled and chased silver plaques and chased silver pommel cover. Wood scabbard very lightly engraved. Total length is 13 inches. Very good condition. Very fine age patina on the blade and the grips. Minor damage to the silver pommel cover.
