The blade of this yataghan is 20 inches long and richly inlaid (true inlay) with silver inscriptions in Arabic letters and dated to 1195 (1780 in the Gregorian calendar. Some time in the second half of the 19 C. it was fitted to a silver handle with big ears, in the style of Balkan Yataghans, with a beautiful silver grip strap with granulation work. The scabbard was fitted with a steel tip and small chased brass locket (not original). Total length 27 inches. Very good condition. Minor blackened spots on the blade and dents on the handle. Leather shrink on the scabbard. A very elegant sword.
