Parang Ginah Sickle Shaped Sword from Malaya - 8684

A sword of extremely rare form, the Parang Ginah is coming from Malaya. It is a sickle shaped heavy blade, 17 inches long and 2 inches wide, forged from good laminated pamor steel, with heavy impressive steel socket for the turned wood handle. Total length 22 inches. Very good condition, with good age patina on the blade. Age cracks in the wood handle but it is still very solid and stable. Either it is a weapon or an agricultural implement is not really clear, but this form of sword is very much sought after by Far east weapon collectors.
