Good Indian Khukuri Knife with Marked Blade - 8659

This is a bit unusual Khukuri knife. The heavy 12 1/2 inches blade is deeply stamped with a crown. The handle is horn with brass bolsters and pommel cap. The scabbard is of the “box” construction style, opened at the top to allow easy withdrawal of the blade and covered with tooled black leather. The blade is kept in closed position with two small belts with steel buckles. The additional Karda and Chakma (small knife and steel) are made of polished steel with horn grips. Total length 17 inches. Very good condition. Minor damage to the scabbard tip and small areas of damage to the leather. Good early 20C. item. This Khukuri comes from the collection of John Powell, SF, a world known collection of Nepalese and related weapons.
