Early Turkish Kindjal Style Dagger - 8648

This Dagger is of Turkish origin, with an early 18 C. blade 14 1/2 inches long, forged from good Sham (Turkish style low contrast wootz steel). It has a central rib and richly decorated with gold koftgari work of inscription in Arabic letters. The handle and scabbard are of a Qama / Kindjal style, horn grips and leather covered scabbard with brass mounts. Total length 20 1/2 inches. Very good condition. Minor losses to the gold work and minor dents to the brass mounts. |
