Good Piha Kahetta Dagger / Knife from Sri Lanka - 8620

Another good d “PIHA KAHETTA”, the traditional knife of the Sinhalese from Sri-Lanka (Ceylon). It always has a single edged short heavy down curving blade, and the hilt is elaborately decorated in various techniques of decorative arts. This specific example has a thick blade 6 inches long, (but only about 4 ˝ inches of the blade length has an edge), inlaid with brass and silver decoration. The bolster is brass, chiseled in a beautiful design and inlaid with silver. The grips are made from dark horn engraved and set with chased silver mounts. Original wood scabbard. Total length is 12 inches. Very good condition with minor damage to the brass cover of the blade heel. A very good item in very good condition and very attractive price.
