This rare wood shield is coming from Kalimantan (Borneo) and is most probably of the Iban people of The Borneo Dayak group. Cut and carved from a single piece of wood and reinforced with rattan bands and splits of palm tree. Total length 49 inches. Maximum width 13 1/2 inches. Very good condition. Few wood cracks with some repairs. A rare early 20 C. fine tribal item.
