A beautiful and rare hand painted hide shield from Rajasthan. The Rajasthani hide shields were very famous in their delicate paintings in black red and gold. This one is 24 1/2 inches diameter, made from Rhino hide. It is painted around the edge with red flowers on white background with a central medallion red white and gold floral pattern on a light red brown background. The inner face is painted with gold pattern around the edge as well. The central main bosses are made from beautifully cut and pierced brass. This shield comes with its original hand cusion and handles. Very good condition. One corner of the hand cushin seam is open.
