This rare helmet is Indian, most probably late 17 c to early 18. Characterized by the low dome structure, short top spike and riveted rings on the mail collar. Nasal protector is held in high position by a steel catch (and not a screw as seen in later helmets). Dome height 3 1/2 inches, spike 2 inches. Total height 16 inches. Very good condition to age. Dark patina on the steel with shallow pitting. Few rings are missing from the mail collar. A rare piece.
