Very Good Turkish Yataghan Sword with Scabbard - 8579

Up for sale is this very good Yataghan, Turkish origin, late 18 to early 19 C. The classical shaped blade is 22 inches long, well made and nicely decorated with gold koftgari work: floral design and inscriptions in Arabic letters. The grips are walrus and the grip strap and bolsters are steel. Original scabbard with white metal locket and chape. Total length 30 inches. Both grips are cracked (has so unfortunately happens with Yataghans) but otherwise the condition is very good. The fabric covering the scabbard is late. |
