Fine Persian Qajar Wootz Jambiya Dagger with Walrus Handle - 8529

A fine example of late18 Early 19 C. Persian Jambiya dagger from the Qajar period. The 9 1/2 inches curved blade with a central rib is beautifully forged from fine Persian wootz (Damascus) steel with high contrast. The hilt is a solid piece of walrus Ivory. Original wood scabbard covered with black leather finely tooled in its original condition with chased silver chape. Total length 14 ½ inches. Very good condition. Few pitted spots on the blade. Age crack on the ivory grip back side. |
