Very Rare Georgian Sword / Saber with Wootz Blade - 8525

Very few authentic swords of this type were shown up in the market in the recent years. It is a Georgian saber, Probably lat 18 to early 19 C. The Kilij style blade is 30 1/2 inches long with 8 inches back edge, forged from watered steel (Wootz, Damascus), probably made in Persia and marked with Persian markings and inscriptions in Arabic letters. The handle and scabbard are wood, covered with chased silver all around. Total length 37 inches. Very good condition. Few grinding scratches on the blade. The silver bands on the scabbard and handle are later additions, probably to repair cracks in the silver cover. A rare sword.
