This Yataghan is most probably from the Balkan areas of the ottoman Empire and it is dated to the very early 19 C: 1219 in the Islamic calendar which corresponds to 1804 in the Gregorian calendar. The blade is 24 inches long with Inscription in Arabic letters and date with inlaid silver wires (true inlay). The grips are carved from massive, dark and very dense rhino horn, with chased silver grip strap and bolsters. Leather covered scabbard with white metal chape (probably later). Total lemgth 33 inches. Very good condition. Some blackened spots on the blade with minor losses to the silver inlay. Some cracks and holes in the grip strap and bolsters.
