Up for sale is this early and rare form of Indian Dagger, from a class of daggers known as Chillanum . Daggers in this class may take various shapes but all share the typical re-curving blade. This one probably late 17 or early 18 C. vintage. 7 ½ inches re-curving blade with a shallow central rib, riveted to a whole steel handle with a bird head shaped pommel and D guard. The handle is pierced allover with small holes in a geometrical pattern. Total length 11 1/2 inches. Good condition to age. Blade has seen several sharpening attempts which have worn the edges a bit. Small damage to the pommel on its left side. A rare item.
