Up for sale is this very fine “PIHA KAHETTA”, the traditional knife of the Sinhalese from Sri-Lanka (Ceylon). Like the old classical examples it has a single edged short heavy down curving blade, 7 inches long but only 4 ˝ inches has an edge. The rest is covered with very fine chiseled brass and chased silver bolsters. The grips are beautifully carved from ivory with deep almost black shiny patina, set with chiseled and chased silver plaques and pommel cover. Total length is 11 inches. Very good condition. Very fine patina on the blade and the ivory grips. A fine piece in good condition and very reasonable price.
