From our private collection we offer for sale this very fine Jambiya dagger with very fine Persian wootz (Damascus) blade. it is coming from the Kurdistan region in Northern Iraq. The clear Turkish style is finely mixed with Iraqi style of decoration. Blade length 10 inches. Handle is carved from a massive piece of water buffalo black horn and niello decorated domed rivet covers. The scabbard is finely tooled leather with silver locket and chape. The locket is also decorated in niello design, showing a river scene. Total length 16 ½ inches. Very good condition. A small chip on the pommel side of the handle. A fine piece.
