Very Fine Kard from Bukhara with Agate Handle - 8362

This is very fine small Kard knife, probably from Bukhara. The blade, although only 6 inches long, is elegantly forged from very fine Persian Wootz steel, of clear high contrast and hollow ground cross section. Steel bolster inlaid with gold. Handle is carved from fine Agate stone of red brown and blue colors with heavy silver collar. This dagger comes with its original green velvet on wood scabbard with ivory tip. Total length 11 inches. Very good condition. The blade is very early, probably late 17 or early 18 C. The agate handle is a later addition, probably late 19 C. and so is the scabbard that perfectly fits the knife. |
