This fine Kard dagger is coming from the western areas of the Ottoman Empire, probably Balkan, early 19 C. or earlier. The 8 ½ inches blade is forged from Sham ( Wootz, Damascus steel , common to blades in the Ottoman empire). Elephant ivory grip with finely pierced and gilded silver bolster and gilded chased silver locket and chape. Original fabric cover on the scabbard. Total length 15 inches. A fine complete untouched item.
