A very interesting and authentic combination of a Jambiya dagger with a Persian wootz blade mounted unto an Indian style handle and with an Indian style scabbard. We believe that this is basically an Indian piece, mid 19 C, incorporating an older Persian blade imported or traded in India. The blade is 9 inches long, forged from very fine high contrast wootz steel. The handle is steel inlaid with gold and silver decoration in the Indian style of the mid 19 C. Wood scabbard covered with green velvet and mounted with engraved and pierced silver tip. Total length 14 inches. Very good condition. Minor blackened areas on the blade. Scabbard fabric worn and repaired in several places. A fine piece.
