Wootz Karud Dagger from Bukhara Rhino Horn Hilt - 8289

This Karud dagger is the straight back member of the family of the Pesh-Kabz, Choora and Khyber Knife. The whole family of such daggers is common to India, Persia and several Central Asian countries. The blade is forged from beautiful high contrast wootz (Damascus) steel, 12 ½ inches long, heavy, with a pronounced T spine tapering to an acute tip. The grips are Rhino horn cut axially to the horn. This very typical horn grips indicates a Bukhara origin. The grip strap and bolsters are steel. This dagger comes with its original fabric covered scabbard with steel tip and original leather harness and carrying belt. Total length 21 inches. Very good condition. A fine complete piece. |
