Fine Persian Qajar Wootz Jambiya Dagger with Ivory Handle - 8279


A fine example of late18 Early 19 C. Persian Jambiya dagger from the Qajar period. The 9 inches curved blade with a central rib is beautifully forged from fine Persian wootz (Damascus) steel with high contrast. The hilt is a solid piece of elephant Ivory. Original wood scabbard covered with black leather finely tooled in its original condition, with the small original brass loop for carrying cord. Later brass tip. Total length 13 ½ inches. Very good condition. Age hairline cracks on the ivory. Some losses to the scabbard leather.
