Very Good Heavy Tegha Execution Sword - 8268

A very good and complete sword of its kind, also known as Tegha. Indian origin, supposedly used for execution. Fine heavy and very wide blade, 31 inches long and almost 3 ½ inches wide, elaborately decorated with fine gold koftgari work and etched to imitated wootz steel. Large size tulwar style handle inlaid with brass decoration of human figures in the classical late 19 C. Indian style. Complete scabbard with its original tooled leather accompanied with two small knives with bone handles. All very good and complete in original condition. Total length 37 inches. Very good condition with few blackened spots on the blades and very minor losses to the leather. A heavy and impressive sword. Either used for execution or not, we do not know. We just take the liberty to show a photo of an Indian executioner, in full costume, taken in 1890. This nice guy is holding a very similar sword.
