We offer here for sale a large and rare 19 Century war shield from Ethiopia. This type of shields was in use by the Amarro people residing in the South and South West of Ethiopia, as well as other tribes in the neighborhood. It is big, 27 inches in diameter, more than 8 inches tall, made of Buffalo or Hippo hide and decorated with a central rib at the top center and nipple like protrusions all around. Very good condition. Beautiful shining untouched age patina. Very Rare type of shield.
