Fine Qajar Persian Jambiya Dagger with Walrus Ivory Hilt - 8267


A very fine example of late18 Early 19 C. Persian Jambiya dagger from the Qajar period. The 9 ½ inches curved blade with a central rib is beautifully forged from fine Persian wootz (Damascus) steel with very high contrast. The hilt is a solid piece of walrus Ivory cut entirely from the inner marble like part of the tusk. Original wood scabbard covered with black leather finely tooled in its original condition, with the small original silver loop for carrying cord. Chased silver tip. Total length 14 ½ inches. Next to perfect condition. Good shining age patina on the walrus grip.
