Persian Qajar Jambiya Dagger with Carved Bone Handle - 8253

Up for sale is this very interesting Persian Jambiya dagger, late 19 C. Qajar period style and decoration. The curved blade is wootz (Damascus) steel, 9 inches long with a central rib. The handle is carved bone in the classical Qajar style, with human (kings ?) figures and inscription in Arabic letters. Wood scabbard with tooled leather cover and white metal chape. Total length 16 inches. Very good condition. Cracked ( and re-glued) handle. The scabbard may be a later adaptation but well fitted to the blade.
