Pedang Sword, Indonesia, Very Rare Form - 8231

This form of sword from Sumatra, Indonesia is known as Pedang I. It has a clear influence from the Indian subcontinent and usually employs a foreign blade, as most probably the case here: A secondary use of a probably military saber blade, 31 inches long with 10 inches false back edge. Steel basket hilt with down pointing langets and a pommel spike. All very nicely engraved. Original embroidred hand cushion in the hilt basket. Total length 38 inches. For similar swords see A.G.
