Very Good Qajar Persian Jambiya Dagger with Carved walrus handle - 8224

A very good example of late18 Early 19 C. Persian Jambiya dagger from the Qajar period. The 9 ½ inches curved blade with a central rib is beautifully forged from fine Persian wootz (Damascus) steel with very high contrast. The hilt is a solid piece of walrus Ivory. Classical ‘I’ shape and carved on both sides with human figures. Original wood scabbard covered with green leather , stitched on the back side with the original spiral stitching ( damaged). Total length 14 ½ inches. Very good condition. Good age patina on the walrus grip. Rear seam on scabbard partially open due to age shrink and stitches damaged. Crack at the scabbard tip but hold quite well. |
