Late 19 C. Persian (Qajar) Devil Head Steel Helmet - 8099

Up for sale is this good late 19 C. steel helmet from Persia. 8 inch diameter, 13 inches tall (base to tip of pike, mail collar not included). A small horned devil head is mounted on the top of the helmet with four other devil faces on mounted on four sides. A short pike is mounted at the top of the small devil head. The collar is made of open steel rings. The entire helmet dome is etched in a typical late 19 C. Qajar style with Arabic verses and floral design. Very good condition. Good age patina on the steel dome. The mail connection to the dome is not perfectly correct, suggesting a later adaptation. Few holes in the mail and few rings are missing. A very impressive helmet at a very attractive price.
