Good Old Moroccan Koumaya / Jambiya Dagger - 8159


The Moroccan version of the Arab Jambiya dagger is locally called Koumaya and characterized by a slender blade, usually dual edged at its lower half and single edge at the top. There is a big variety in the decoration styles and quality of the handles and scabbards. This one is circa 1900, of a good quality, with a 9 inches blade, fine engraved silver scabbard with typical floral design with side loops. The hilt is carved of bone with finely chased and engraved silver fittings. This dagger comes with its original cotton baldric carrying belt. Total length 16 ½ inches. Very good condition, a small age crack to the bone hilt.
