Fine Wootz (Damascus) Khayber Sword - 8135

The Khaybar sword (Also Known as Salawar Yatagan) was originally the common side arm of the Afrids people residing in the area of the Khaybar pass between Pakistan and Afghanistan, but it use was extended into Pakistan as well as India and Central Asia. It is easily recognized by its straight blade, pronounce T spine cross section and tapering tip. This one has a 15 inches long blade, forged from Indian wootz (Crystalline) steel. The grips are bone with steel bolsters and engraved steel grip strap. This sword comes with its original elaborately tooled leather covered scabbard with long steel mounts with silver koftgari decoration. Total length 23 inches. Very good condition. Minor losses to the leather on the back of the scabbard. A fine piece. |
