Fine mid 20C.. Kothimora Khukuri / Kukri Dagger - 8092

Kothimora, the Khukuri of the rich man are the daggers carried by nobilities and persons of high status. Like the one here they were weapons of high quality and richly decorated: The 12 ½ inches swollen blade is forged of good steel. The handle is black horn and the bolsters are made of brass. Wood scabbard covered with the original black leather and mounted with highly decorated big chased silver locket and chape. The locket is coming with its original silver chain and a ¼ Rupee Indian coin dated 1934. Total length 18 inches. The blade curvature, the fullers and the brass bolster all indicate a mid 20 C. item. Very good condition. This Khukuri is coming from the collection of John Powell, SF, a world known collection of Nepalese and related weapons. |
