Up for sale is this very good Indian helmet, probably 18 C. Steel dome head, composed from two steel sectors. The central one is hard steel, probably wootz. The outer ring is softer steel made so to facilitate the scratches needed for the gold koftgari decoration all around. Diameter 8 inches, height 6 ½ inches. Styled nasal protector also with fine gold decoration. The collar mail is made of thousands of small rings, all riveted. Good condition. Few repairs on the steel dome. The mail collar is of not so common shape and it might be a later addition. A very rare and nice piece.
