Very Rare Ayda Katti Sword, Coorg, India - 8103

The Ayda Katti is the national sword of the Coorg of Malabar, the South West coastal area of India. It is one of the rarest swords in the Indian arsenal and of a very peculiar shape. It reminds in a way an agricultural tool, but it is a real weapon and a deadly one in the experienced hands. The blade of this one is of a sickle shape 16 inches long and more than 3 ½ inches wide at its widest point. The handle is carved horn checkered around the grips area, with a kite shaped pommel also made of horn. 22 inches total length. Very good condition. Minor blackened patches and battle scars on the edge. A RARE UNIQUE SWORD. |
