Fine 18 C. Turkish Yataghan Sword - 8062

This is an early Yataghan sword and although not dated, this style of Yataghans is common to the mid 18 C. or a bit later. The blade is slightly down curving, 24 inches long, well made stamped with a maker stamp and engraved with inscription in Arabic letters. The handle and bolsters are silver with Niello design. The scabbard is wood with big silver locket and chape, finely chased. Total length 32 inches. Very good condition. Small spots of damage and cracks to the silver handle and the bolsters. This fine piece is coming from the collection of the Calgary Military Institute, Canada and it is marked with the institute inventory number MI-1691 on the spine. |
