Very Fine Indo-Persian / Arab Jambiya Dagger - 8043

Up for sale is this very Fine dagger, probably made in Persia at the second half of the 19 C. as a special order for an Indian buyer. The blade dimensions and proportions are of Indian daggers carried by Arabs, mainly in South India. The steel and handle are of Persian style and workmanship. Fantastic wootz blade 9 inches long and 2 inches wide with a central rib. One of the best we have seen with clear, dark, high contrast watered pattern. Carved walrus handle with human faces on one side and floral pattern on the other. Fabric covered scabbard with pierced silver tip. Total length 14 ½ inches. Very good plus condition. Only minor damage to the scabbard fabric at the top of the scabbard. A very fine piece.
