This Karud dagger is the straight back member of the family of the Pesh-Kabz, Choora and Khyber Knife. The whole family of such daggers is common to India, Persia and several Central Asian countries. The blade is forged from beautiful high contrast wootz (Damascus) steel, 12 ½ inches long, heavy, with a pronounced T spine tapering to an acute tip. The grips are Rhino horn with a pronounced fibrous structure cut axially to the horn. The grip strap and bolsters are steel. Total length 17 inches. This cut of the horn grips is typical to Bukhara, and hence the suggested origin. Very good condition. Very good horn color and age patina. No scabbard.
