Fine Persian Qajar Jambiya Dagger - 8007

Up for sale is this fine example of the Jambiya daggers common to the Qajar period in Persia. The curved 8 inches blade with central rib is forged from very fine wootz (Damascus) steel with very high contrast pattern with a later gold koftgari decoration. The I shaped handle is carved from the inner marble like section of a massive piece of walrus ivory. Wood scabbard covered with black tooled leather and colorful fabric on the rear side, with a metal tip. Total length 14 inches. Very good condition. The gold decoration on the blade are later, probably mid 20 c. and were added to “upgrade” the item. A fine piece.
