Fine Early Yataghan Sword dated 1715 - 7959

This is a very early yataghan sword and the blade is marked and dated to 1127 (corresponding to 1715 in the Gregorian Calendar. The blade, almost straight is 25 inches long, well made stamped with a maker stamp and inscription in gold koftgari work with traces of decorative etched design. The handle and bolsters are silver with Niello design. The scabbard is wood with big silver locket and chape, finely chased and set with coral stones. Total length 32 ½ inches. Very good condition. Small spots of damage to the silver handle and restored grip strap. Few coral stones are missing. A fine piece. |
