A sword of the Fang people residing in the borders area of Gabon and Cameroon. Weapons of the Fang are somewhat different and they are quite rare and much sought after. This one is old, probably mid 19th Century, 13 inches double edge blade and a cross-shaped hilt from hardwood bund with alternating brass and copper wire. No scabbard. The blade is somewhat pitted with traces of engraving. The hilt has few age cracks but hold very tight. This rare sword is offered here at very low price.
