A Shamshir, the Eastern saber that for centuries enchanted the world and was copied in practically all armies of the western world. A light, curved, wedge shape blade of minimal and simple design and yet a lethal slashing weapon in the experienced hand. Here we offer for sale a classical example. A 33 inches blade forged from very fine watered steel (Wootz, Damascus) with high contrast, clearly evident on the entire blade length, steel cross guard, ivory grips with twisted siver wire binding and steel pommel. Total length 37 inches. Very good condition. The pommel cap and silver wire binding is a later addition. One of the grips is cracked but hold solid and a small crack in the steel cross guard.
