Very Fine Indo-Persian Hunting Wootz Shamshir Sword - 7875

This one is a very unusual sword of mixed Persian and Indian elements: The wootz blade is of a Persian Shamshir sword in design, curvature and cross section. It is beautifully chiseled on its entire length on both sides with figures of various animals: Elephants, tigers, antelopes and others as found from time to time on Indian hunting swords. The blade was also decorated with gold koftgari work, now mostly lost. The handle and the scabbard fittings are steel lovely chiseled with typical Qajar style. Good original wood scabbard with tooled leather cover. Very good plus condition. An unusual fine sword for the Connoisseur collector.
