Good Persian Wootz (Damascus) Jambiya Dagger - 7895

A good example of the Jambiya daggers common to the Qajar period in Persia. The curved 9 inches blade with central rib is forged from wootz (Damascus) steel. The I shaped handle is carved from a single massive piece of walrus ivory. Wood scabbard covered with black leather and mounted with a silver chape. Total length 15 inches. Very good condition. Hairline age cracks on the handle (common to ivory in this age) and a small chip on the rear side. Some areas of losses to the leather and the silver chape is a later addition.
