Very Good Indo-Persian Battle Axe with Damascus Haft - 7851

Up for sale is this very good and unusual Indo-Persian Battle Axe. The blade is almost 7 inches long ( tip to tip). It is nicely chiseled with Arabic inscription in traces of gold koftgari frames. The haft is forged from twisted steel (Damascus / pattern welded). Surprisingly only half of the haft (longwise) is forged from twisted steel. The other half is plain high carbon steel. Even more unusual is the concealed blade which is located at the top of the axe, near its blade. It is finely fullered blade, signed on the spine, and mounted on a steel handle shaped as a monster head. Beautiful steel work - a piece of art by itself. Total length 28 inches. Very good condition. The thread of the concealed blade is worn and loose.
