A Shamshir made for a youngster: A smaller version of the Eastern saber that for centuries enchanted the world and was copied in practically all armies of the western world. A light. Deeply curved, wedge shape blade of minimal and simple design 27 inches long, forged from a fine Wootz (watered steel, Damascus), steel cross guard, ivory grips stained in light green color brass grip strap (later) steel pommel. Wood scabbard with black velvet cover (new) and with the original steel tip. Both the cross guard and the scabbard tip were decorated with gold koftgari work, now partially lost. Total length 33 inches. Very good condition. The pommel cap and grip strap are later to the grips and blade. The brass strip is partialy loose. |
